Germany BOUND! The Transition...

I have arrived at my destination safely! It was a long process getting here but I finally made it! Started off with a flight to Baltimore then a military flight to Ramstein AFB. I was surrounded around many military families and soldiers on that flight! Yes, that's including a million crying babies! I was not upset though because I figured... "wow that may be me someday" The flight was comfortable. It was my last hour of the flight that I felt crazy! I was ready to get off! However, I was happy to know that I was only a few mins away from seeing my best friend! Upon landing exiting the plane was much faster and smoother than your normal commercial flight! I grabbed my carry-on bag and headed to customs! Finally, my 1st passport stamp! As I started to walk to baggage claim there was a waiting room full of soldiers waiting for their loved ones. I couldn't see my husband anywhere but I knew he was close!

As I waited patiently for my bags something told me to look over my shoulder to see if I see my hubby... and there he was waving and smiling at me! Ahhhhh I couldn't wait to get outside to see him!

The car ride back to our base was LONG! Yikes, I had jet lag already! Plus the head and chest cold I was forming. My eye contacts were dry, I had a headache, and a dumb cough! lol

Finally made it to my new apartment and I was instantly greeted by a purple and pink cake with x's and o's from my hubby to me! I love our apartment. It's small but it's perfect for US! It took us about 3-4 days to get situated. Organized closets, clothes, got Internet, food shopping, household goods shopping, etc! We have the essentials to live everyday life! But whats most important is that we have each other! This transition is tough! Going from having my car and having a life, to having no car and not a damn thing on my agenda... feels weird!

There are two things that's on my agenda... getting acquainted with military life AND LIVING OVERSEAS! I'm learning two things at once! I am taking it one moment at a time and letting go of my fears and just living! The best part about this is I'm not alone! My husband is in front of me, beside me, and has my back 100%

On post there's a services called Army Community Support. ACS has been a big help to me! They have provided tons of books and pamphlets to help get me started. I also have the driver license book to read! THAT'S A MUST! I refuse for our car to come and I have no license! They have a program called Destination Schweinfurt it's a series of smaller programs for me to attend to get a little more accustomed to life in Schweinfurt! I think what I'm looking to do the most is being able to go out into the economy comfortable with Euro and buy and shop without feeling lost. I'm sure it will take time!

As of now my husband and I are working on fixing up our apartment with larger necessities such as furniture, entertainment sets, and overall decor. This will take time as well. Alot of wives have lots of advice but again its difficult not having a car to maneuver around freely. All in all I am here, I'm alive, and I'm mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually well! The transition is going well and I know that the next PCS I will be a pro at everything!

Being an Army Wife is not easy! I can see it from week one! I'm just happy to have a STONG SUPPORT SYSTEM back at home and I'm Happy to have a husband and best friend who has my back thru thick and thin!

  2. Dear army wife. The detailed descriptions and photographs of your travel adventures thus far are very interesting! It is really neat to get a first hand account of what it would be like to move to a place such as Germany! Also the emotions and excitement you had about being with your hubby and best friend again got me all warm and fuzzy to be reunited with my soldier again too. Glad you are enjoying the ride! By the way I hope you take some time to nurse that cold of yours! Ha ha. Keep us up to date. Happy blogging!
