This has been an amazing journey. From applying for command sponsorship to applying for shipment of homegoods to counting down the days and hours before I board my plane to Germany. I keep telling my husband that the next move I pray it's accompanied versus un-accompanied. Awwwe look at me using my military lingo and being a true Army Wife! So, lets go backwards...
Command Sponsorship was the very first thing we had to accomplish before going overseas. It's a clearance to first show my mental and physical well-being and that the country I reside in can handle any mental or physical needs I may have. Followed by a clearance and then approval that the government will sponsor my stay in another Country.
Now accompanied versus un-accompanied means my husband will be doing the traveling with me versus not with me. Right now he's not with me and its tough! #WelcomeToTheArmy! Lol
The process of packing and moving from one Country to another has been bitter sweet! I have had many ups and downs emotionally and felt like the world was on my shoulders at times. But my backbone, MY HUSBAND, held me down even 4,000 miles away! There were not alot of resources for me to turn too in assistant with my "next step". I frequently looked to the Internet for help or the wives Facebook page. Privately messaging strangers who knew exactly what I was going thru and assisted me in the right direction!
There was tons of paperwork to be printed, signed, faxed, copied, re-faxed, emailed. I didn't mind... But again it was a process and it became overwhelming. It takes a very special woman to be an Army wife! This is only the beginning for me but after what I have been thru with just our 1st PCS I can clearly see that it is not cut out for everyone!
Anyway, back to the big move... Wow... Movers!!! A BLESSING! When I used to move around (college dorm to apt to parents house) I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF. It felt so weird sitting back and watching movers pack our belongings and do all the work! The final step was to ship my car. I had all of our paperwork ready and organized and lots of copies of our orders! Everything went VERY SMOOTH... I was still overwhelmed at the process tho! It went well but there was a sequence and protocol to it all! I'm not mad because I operate this way, however, at that time I had all types of emotions running thru my soul! Maybe I just needed some food and a good cup of coffee! Hahaha
All in all I WOULD NOT TRADE THIS EXPERIENCE FOR ANYTHING! This was the first of MANY moves! But now I know exactly what to do for the next PCS so that Im not as overwhelmed!
Until next time followers :)
I will be updating in GERMANY!
**PCS= Permanent Change Of Station
